What is the Voucher System?

Vouchers are discount codes you create in Marketing → Vouchers: a fixed amount off, a percentage off, or free shipping, with usage limits, a minimum order and start and end dates. You can also generate up to 1,000 unique codes at once for a campaign.

It is part of every store; there's nothing to install.

Important: shoppers can't use vouchers yet

There is no box at cart or checkout where a shopper can enter a voucher code, and voucher discounts are not taken off orders. You can create and manage vouchers, but they can't be redeemed today.

Use coupon codes instead. For a discount code shoppers type at checkout, create a promotion with a coupon code in Marketing → Promotions (or Auto Coupons for automatically created codes). Those work at cart and checkout.
