What is sent, and when
| When | Sent to Google Ads | Needs |
|---|---|---|
| Every page | Google's site-wide tag, for remarketing audiences | Conversion ID |
| Order confirmation | Purchase conversion with the order total, the store currency and the order number | Purchase label |
| Add to cart | Add-to-cart conversion with the item value | Add-to-cart label (optional) |
| Checkout opens | Begin-checkout conversion with the cart value | Begin-checkout label (optional) |
No double counting. A purchase is sent once per order in each browser, and it always carries the order number, so Google Ads also drops a repeat if the shopper revisits the confirmation page from another device.
Cookie consent. When the Cookie Consent module is on, nothing is sent to Google Ads until the shopper allows marketing cookies. Accepting in the banner starts tracking straight away, without a reload.
With Google Analytics. Google Ads and the Google Analytics module share Google's tag on the page, so both can run together. Do not also paste a Google Ads snippet into Tracking Scripts, or conversions are counted twice.
Values. Values are decimals in the store's currency (a ₹499.00 order is sent as 499), the amount the shopper paid including GST and shipping.
