Themes and colour styles

Open My store → Themes. Each theme has its own page layouts and colour styles. One theme is Active at a time.

  • Preview theme shows desktop and mobile screens of a theme before you use it.
  • Activate switches your store to that theme. Your products, orders and settings don't change; only the look does.
  • Edit opens the theme's Styles and Layouts.

Change your theme, step by step

  1. Open My store → Themes.
  2. Click Preview theme on the one you like and check the desktop and mobile screens.
  3. Click Activate. Your store switches straight away; products, orders, customers and settings stay as they are.
  4. Click Edit on the new theme to set its colours and fonts (see Colour styles below).
  5. Open My store → Layouts to change its home page, header and footer blocks. See Page layouts.
  6. Upload your logo and favicon: see Logo and branding.
  7. Open your store in a new tab and check it on your phone.

Want to try a theme without customers seeing it? Preview it first. Activating is instant, and you can switch back to your old theme the same way; its colours and layouts are kept.

Edit your current theme

Click Edit on the Active theme. Styles changes colours and fonts; Layouts changes what each page shows. Changes appear on your live store as soon as they're saved.

Colour styles

Each theme has one or more Styles: colour and typography variations. One style is active. Open a theme with Edit to change it, or Add Style to make a new one:

  • Primary, Secondary and Accent colours (buttons, links, highlights);
  • Background, Text, Header background and Footer background;
  • Body font and Heading font;
  • Border radius (how rounded corners are) and Max width (how wide the page gets);
  • Custom CSS for small tweaks, if you know CSS.

Good to know

  • Edits to a theme's layouts stay with that theme, and are kept if you switch away and back.
  • Choose a theme close to your products (for example jewellery, grocery or fashion), then change colours and blocks. It's much quicker than starting from an empty theme.
  • New Theme starts with a default layout and colour style you can customise.
