Connect an online gateway (UPI, cards, wallets)

You need a merchant account with the gateway first. Sign up on the gateway's website and complete their verification (KYC); they then give you API keys.

  1. Open Finance → Payments and click New Payment Method.
  2. General: Name as shoppers will see it (for example "UPI, Cards & Net Banking"), and a short Description.
  3. Under How will this method be processed? choose Payment Gateway, then pick the gateway in Payment Gateway.
  4. Configuration: paste your keys from the gateway's dashboard. The names match the gateway's, for example Key ID and Key Secret (Razorpay), Merchant Key and Salt (PayU), Publishable Key and Secret Key (Stripe). Credentials are stored encrypted.
  5. Environment: choose Test (sandbox) first.
  6. Copy the Webhook URL shown on the page into your gateway's dashboard. This lets payments settle even if the buyer closes the page before returning to your store.
  7. Set Status to Active and save.
  8. Place a test order with the gateway's test card or test UPI ID. When it works, change Environment to Live (production) with your live keys.

Some gateways (for example PayU) keep their keys on their own settings page; the form tells you where.

Payment Status Mapping

Each gateway reports statuses such as "captured", "failed" or "refunded". Payment Status Mapping decides which order status each one sets. The defaults are right for most stores; change an Override only if you have a reason.
