What is a back-in-stock notification?
When a product sells out, shoppers usually leave. Back-in-stock notifications are meant to let them leave their email instead, and get an email automatically when the product is back.
Not working on the store yet. The part shoppers would use — a Notify me when available button on the product page — is not shown on CartWhizz stores yet. The rest is ready: the setting on each product, the waiting list and the email. Until the button is added, a product set to "Notify me" behaves like a normal sold-out product, and nobody can join the waiting list from your store.
How it is designed to work
- You choose, per product, what a sold-out page shows. One choice is Show "Notify me when available".
- A shopper leaves their email on the sold-out product (or variant, like one size).
- When you restock, CartWhizz notices within about 5 minutes and emails everyone waiting, with a link to the product.
- Each person is emailed once. To be told again next time, they sign up again.
What it does not do
- It doesn't hold stock for people on the list — the first to buy gets it.
- It only sends email (no SMS or WhatsApp).
- There is no admin page showing who is waiting or how many.
