What Cookie Consent does
Cookie Consent shows a banner to first-time visitors asking how your store may use cookies, and makes your tracking tools wait for their answer.
Visitors can choose:
- Accept All — everything on.
- Reject Non-Essential — only the cookies your store needs to work (cart, login).
- Customize — switch on or off Analytics, Marketing and Personalization cookies one by one, then Save Preferences. Essential Cookies are always on.
The choice is remembered on that browser for a year, and the banner doesn't come back during that time.
What it controls
With Cookie Consent on:
- Google Analytics loads only after the visitor allows Analytics.
- Ad and marketing tags — Facebook (Meta) Pixel, Google Ads, Google Tag Manager — load only after the visitor allows Marketing.
- Scripts you add yourself in Tracking Scripts count as Marketing and load only after the visitor allows it.
- A small Cookie settings link stays at the bottom of every page, so visitors can change their choice at any time.
- Every saved choice is recorded for the store (which categories, the banner version and the time), as proof of consent. The visitor's IP address is shortened before it is stored.
What it doesn't do (yet)
- The Personalization choice is saved but no feature uses it yet.
- The banner text is the same for every visitor; it can't be edited from the admin.
