Compliance — GDPR, CCPA
This page is general information, not legal advice.
What Cookie Consent gives you
- Analytics and marketing tools don't load until the visitor agrees.
- Visitors can reject everything that isn't essential with one click.
- Visitors can choose category by category.
What you may still need
- A record of consent. Choices aren't logged on your side, so you can't prove a particular visitor agreed. Some regulators expect that.
- A way to change one's mind. There's no "Cookie settings" link yet.
- Your Privacy Policy listing the tools you use and why.
- Scripts in Tracking Scripts (Hotjar, Clarity, chat widgets) load regardless of the banner — remove ones that need consent, or accept the risk.
By region
- EU / UK (GDPR, ePrivacy) — consent before non-essential cookies: covered for the built-in tools.
- India (DPDP Act) — clear, informed consent for personal data. The banner helps; also keep your Privacy Policy and grievance contact up to date.
- California (CCPA) — focuses on the right to opt out of the "sale or sharing" of data. Reject Non-Essential turns off ad tracking, but there is no separate "Do Not Sell or Share" link.
