Track, disable and refund certificates
The list on Marketing → Gift Certificates shows every code with its amount, remaining Balance, recipient, expiry and status:
- Active — can be used;
- Used — the balance is zero;
- Expired — past its expiry date;
- Disabled — you switched it off.
Under the recipient you also see, for gift cards bought on your store, who bought it, when it was sent (or the date it will be sent), and any refund. A note also appears when an expired balance was moved to a wallet, or could not be.
Search by code or email. View usage history shows each order the code paid for and how much. Disable stops a code from being used (for example if it was shared by mistake); the history is kept.
Refund unused balance (gift cards bought online only) sends the unused balance back to the buyer through the payment gateway and disables the card. Money already spent on orders is not refunded — that was paid for products the customer received. If the gateway refuses the refund, nothing changes and you can try again.
