Google Analytics 4

Admin walkthrough — configure

  1. Open Settings → Modules and find Google Analytics.
  2. If it is not installed, open the Browse tab and click Install. Then click Enable.
  3. Click Configure. You see two settings:
    • Measurement ID — paste the G-... ID from Google Analytics.
    • Enable E-commerce Tracking — you can leave this on. (Shopping events are sent whenever the module is on with a valid ID; this switch does not currently turn them off.)
  4. Click Save.

There is no publish step. The next page a shopper opens loads Google's code.

Paste carefully. The ID must be G- followed by 6 to 12 letters or numbers, with no spaces. If you paste something else (an old UA- ID, the stream URL, or the stream's number) the store simply does not load GA4. Nothing breaks for shoppers, but no data reaches Google.

Switching off. Click Disable on the module card. Google's code is removed from your store straight away. Your Measurement ID is kept, so switching back on resumes tracking.

Test and live data. GA4 has no separate test mode: every visit, including your own test orders, lands in your reports. If you want clean numbers, place test orders before connecting GA4, or create a second GA4 property for testing and swap the ID when you go live.
