What is Google Analytics 4?
Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is Google's free tool for seeing who visits your store, where they came from and what they buy.
When you connect it, CartWhizz adds Google's tracking code to every page of your store and reports the important shopping steps to GA4 for you:
- a shopper looks at a list of products or opens a product;
- adds to or removes from the cart, opens the cart;
- starts checkout, picks delivery and payment;
- places an order (the order value, tax, shipping and coupon are sent too);
- searches your store or creates an account.
You only paste one value, your Measurement ID (it looks like G-AB12CD34EF). Everything else is automatic.
What you see in GA4: visitors, traffic sources (Google, Instagram, WhatsApp links and so on), best-selling products, revenue in your store currency (₹ for most stores), and where shoppers drop out of checkout.
What it does not do: CartWhizz does not show GA4 numbers inside your admin. Your own sales reports stay in Reports; GA4 data is in your Google Analytics account.
The old Universal Analytics IDs (UA-...) stopped working in 2023 and are not accepted. You need a GA4 property.
