Admin walkthrough — test and preview

Before you add a rule that might catch real customers, test it.

1. Open Settings → System → Access Restrictions.
2. In the Test Access box, enter an IP Address and, if you use country rules, a Country Code.
3. Click Test.

You see Access Allowed or Access Denied, using your current active rules. Nothing changes for real visitors.

Finding a customer's IP address

Ask the customer to open a "what is my IP" website and send you the number. Note that mobile data and home broadband addresses often change, so a block on one address may not keep someone out for long, and may later affect a different person.

Testing a range

The tester checks one address at a time. To check a range, test an address at the start and one at the end of it.
