Where the money is

When a customer pays online, the money goes to your payment gateway account (Razorpay, PayU, etc.), including the sellers' share. Commissions records how much of it belongs to each seller. You pay sellers their share through Vendor Payouts (by bank transfer or your gateway's payout feature).

If you use Payment Splits (Vendors → Vendor finances → Payment Splits), the gateway can send the seller's share directly at payment time.

Refunds and returns

  • Order cancelled or fully refunded — all of that order's entries are reversed automatically.
  • Item returned and refunded — that item's entries are reversed for the refunded amount.
  • A reversal after the seller was paid shows up as money the seller owes you (Vendor Debts), taken off their next payout.

That's why the payout hold should cover your return window.

GST and TDS

Commissions records amounts only. It doesn't add GST on your commission or deduct TDS/TCS. Work these out with your accountant using the ledger and the Commissions report in Home → Analytics → Reports.
