What is Commissions?

On a marketplace, Commissions works out your cut of every sale a seller makes, and what the seller has earned. It keeps a record of each sold item, holds the seller's earnings for a while (so returns can be taken back first), and gives the figures to Vendor Payouts, which is where sellers actually get paid.

You manage it in Vendors → Vendor finances → Commissions, which has four tabs:

  • Commission Workflow — how much is pending, approved and paid.
  • Dashboard — total commissions, total seller earnings, totals paid out and pending.
  • Commission Rules — your commission rates.
  • Ledger Entries — one line per sold item, with your commission and the seller's share.

How it works

  1. You set commission rules, for example "10% on everything", or "8% for seller X".
  2. When an order is paid, CartWhizz records each seller's items with your commission and the seller's share. These start as pending.
  3. When the order is marked Complete (delivered), the entries are confirmed and the seller's earnings become payable after the payout hold (14 days by default).
  4. If the order is cancelled or refunded, or an item is returned, the entries are reversed.
  5. Sellers see their earnings in their seller panel and can request a payout; you pay them through Vendor Payouts.

No rule means no commission — the seller keeps 100%. Add at least one rule to take a cut.

Commissions doesn't move money itself, and doesn't calculate GST or TDS on your commission.
