Getting started

Guest checkout is on for every new store, so there is nothing to switch on. Spend five minutes checking it works the way you want.

1. Place a test order as a guest. Open your store in a private (incognito) window, add a product to the cart and click Checkout. You should land on Your details, not on a login page. Fill it in and place a cash-on-delivery order.
2. Find it in your admin. Open Sales → Orders. The test order is at the top with the name and email you typed. Open it to see the guest's name, email and phone.
3. Decide which details you need. Email and name are always required. To make phone required (most Indian couriers need it), open Settings → Profile Fields and mark Phone as required.
4. Offer an account after the order. In Settings → Settings → Checkout, switch on Offer account creation after order. Guests then see a Save your details box on the order confirmation page.
5. Check related settings on the same Checkout tab:
   • Allow guest to add to cart — let visitors fill a cart before logging in;
   • Allow guests to view prices — when off, visitors see "Login to view price";
   • Allow shopping for unlogged customers — when off, visitors must log in to browse at all.
6. Cancel the test order.
