Guest order flow
What happens behind a guest order, in plain terms:
- Checkout opens without a login. Your store allows guests, so the shopper goes to Your details instead of the login page.
- Details are checked. Email must look like a real email, name cannot be blank, and phone must be filled in if you made it required.
- The cart is re-checked. Prices, stock and coupons are worked out again on our side, so a shopper cannot change prices in their browser.
- The order is created with the guest's name, email and phone on it instead of a customer account. Coupon usage limits count guest orders too.
- Payment. Online payments go to your payment gateway as usual. COD orders are placed straight away.
- Emails. The guest gets the order confirmation and later status emails (shipped, delivered) at the email they typed.
- Abandoned carts. If the guest typed their email but did not finish, Abandoned Cart can send them a reminder.
A guest can only look up their order with both the order number and the email used. Nobody can see an order from the number alone.
