What is Payment Restrictions?
Payment Restrictions lets you decide when each payment method is offered at checkout. The most common use in India: hide cash on delivery (COD) on big orders, so you don't ship ₹20,000 of goods to someone who may refuse delivery.
For each payment method you can set:
- Minimum Order Total and Maximum Order Total — for example, COD only for orders up to ₹5,000;
- Allowed States — offer a method only for delivery to certain states;
- Allowed Shipping Methods — offer a method only with certain delivery options, for example COD only with a courier that collects cash;
- Allowed User Groups and Blocked User Groups — meant to show a method only to, or hide it from, certain customer groups. These two do not work at checkout today (see Rule types).
There is no separate page. The rules live on each payment method's Restrictions tab in Finance → Payments.
Important: the rules only work while the Payment Restrictions module is switched on. With it off, every active payment method is offered to everyone, even if you filled in its Restrictions tab.
