Clean URLs and slugs
The slug is the last part of a web address, for example blue-cotton-kurti in yourstore.in/blue-cotton-kurti.
Slugs are made for you
When you create a product, category, page, brand or blog post, CartWhizz makes a slug from its name: lowercase, with hyphens instead of spaces.
Change a slug
- Open the product (or category) in the admin.
- In the SEO card, edit URL Slug. Use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens only.
- Save.
CartWhizz automatically creates a permanent redirect from the old address to the new one, so shared links and Google rankings carry over.
Choose the address shape
My store → SEO → URL Structure lets you pick a style for each kind of page:
| Style | Example |
|---|---|
| Flat | /blue-cotton-kurti |
| Nested (products and categories only) | /women/kurtis/blue-cotton-kurti |
| Prefixed | /products/blue-cotton-kurti |
Products default to Nested; everything else to Flat. Changing a style is safe: old addresses redirect to the new ones.
Tip: pick a style early and leave it. Redirects keep old links working, but Google takes time to catch up.
