What is Vendor KYC?

Vendor KYC (Know Your Customer) lets you check who your marketplace sellers are before you trust them. Vendors upload identity and business documents; you review them, tick a checklist and approve or reject.

  • You: Vendors → KYC Verification (one row per vendor) and Vendors → Vendor Documents (every uploaded file).
  • Vendors: KYC Verification and Documents in the vendor panel.

For Indian sellers

The documents asked for depend on the vendor's country. For India they are Aadhaar, PAN, bank account proof and address proof, and the business ID is the PAN.

With the separate India KYC (Digio) module, vendors can verify Aadhaar through DigiLocker, PAN against the tax department, and their bank account by a penny-drop test, instead of uploading scans. Only masked Aadhaar numbers are stored.

Every submission is also checked automatically against international sanctions and politically-exposed-person lists.

Good to know

  • Approval lasts one year, then the KYC shows as expired.
  • KYC doesn't block selling or payouts. An unverified vendor can still list products and be paid. Use Vendor Moderation if you want to approve vendors before they go live.

Not working yet

  • The Document Expiry (days) setting on the module's Configure screen has no effect; approvals always last one year.
