Unsubscribe handling + privacy compliance
How unsubscribing works
- Every campaign email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, plus a one-click unsubscribe that Gmail and other inboxes show next to the sender name.
- Clicking it takes the shopper to an unsubscribe page on your store. They are marked Unsubscribed at once and get no further campaigns.
- Unsubscribing from newsletters does not stop order emails (confirmation, shipping updates).
Removing someone yourself. In Marketing → Newsletter → Subscribers, find the email, click the bin icon and confirm with Yes.
Privacy (India's DPDP Act and similar laws)
- Email only people who signed up. Don't upload purchased lists.
- Say on the sign-up box what you will send.
- Mention your newsletter in your privacy policy (My store → Pages).
- If a subscriber asks you to delete their data, delete them from the list.
- The list records when and where each person signed up, which helps if you need to show consent.
Spam rules. Gmail and Yahoo expect a working unsubscribe link and low complaint rates. CartWhizz adds the link for you; keep complaints low by emailing only people who asked.
