Getting started
Before you start
You need all of these:
- An active PayU payment method in Finance → Payments, with its Merchant Key and Salt filled in. Quick Checkout signs every session with these credentials, so a PayU method without them cannot run it.
- Checkout Express enabled on your PayU merchant account. PayU has to switch on Checkout Express (also called CommercePro) for your merchant key. Ask your PayU account manager or PayU support to do this. Without it, the PayU sheet will not open correctly.
- Shipping that covers your store's own location. Quick Checkout prices delivery before it knows the shopper's address (see Shipping, tax and discounts). Make sure your store address (country, state and pincode) is set in your store settings, and that at least one delivery shipping method covers it.
Test first, then go live
Quick Checkout follows the Environment of the PayU method it sits on:
- Test (sandbox) uses PayU's UAT (test) environment.
- Live (production) uses PayU's live environment and takes real money.
Make your first run a test:
- Get UAT test keys with Checkout Express enabled from PayU.
- Create or edit a PayU payment method, set Environment to Test (sandbox) and enter the test Merchant Key and Salt.
- Switch Quick Checkout on (steps below) and place a few test orders: a UPI or card payment, a cancelled sheet and, if you plan to offer it, a COD order.
- When everything looks right, switch the method to Live (production) with your live keys, or switch Quick Checkout on for your live PayU method.
Switch it on
- Go to Finance → Payments in the admin.
- Open your PayU payment method (Edit).
- Open the Configuration tab.
- Find the Express Checkout (Quick Checkout) card.
- Turn on Enable Quick Checkout.
- Review the options that appear. The defaults are a sensible start: COD is off, and the best PayU offer is applied automatically.
- Save the payment method.
- Open Finance → Quick Checkout and check where the PayU button shows: Cart page, Cart drawer and Product page. All three are on by default.
Check it on your storefront
- Open your storefront in a private (incognito) window.
- Add a product to the cart.
- Open the cart page. Below the normal checkout button you should see Quick Checkout with "UPI · Cards · Net banking" under it (or "UPI · Cards · COD" when COD is on).
- Tap it. The button shows "Opening secure checkout…" and PayU's sheet opens.
If the button does not appear, see Troubleshooting.
Signed-out shoppers
Shoppers who are not signed in see Quick Checkout only when your store allows guest checkout (Allow guest checkout). When guests are not allowed, only signed-in shoppers see the button.
