Shipping, tax and discounts
PayU's sheet needs the full amount when it opens, but it tells your store the shopper's address only at the end. So Quick Checkout fixes the price when the shopper taps the button.
Shipping
Shipping is worked out when the sheet opens, using your store's own shipping rules, priced as if the order were going to your store's own location (the country, state and pincode in your store settings).
- For each seller in the order, the store picks the cheapest delivery rate. Store pickup (click and collect) is never chosen.
- Any free-shipping threshold you set on a shipping method applies, as it would at the normal checkout.
- A free-shipping promotion sets shipping to zero, as it would at the normal checkout.
- Products that do not need shipping (for example digital products) add no shipping.
That fee is passed to PayU and stays fixed. It does not change when the shopper picks an address inside the sheet.
After payment, the store checks PayU's address against your shipping areas. If you do not deliver there, the order is created and flagged Undeliverable address (see Orders flagged for review).
Tip: if your shipping rates depend a lot on distance, the fee a shopper pays through Quick Checkout can differ from what the normal checkout would charge for their address. Simple rates (flat rate, or free above an amount) work best with Quick Checkout today.
If your shipping methods do not cover your own store location, Quick Checkout cannot price delivery and the shopper sees "This product is currently unavailable." The normal checkout is not affected.
Tax
- Prices include tax: the total does not depend on the address, so nothing changes.
- Prices exclude tax: tax is estimated with your store's own location when the sheet opens. That amount is passed to PayU and is what the shopper pays.
Discounts and offers
Two kinds of discount apply:
- Your automatic promotions. Catalogue discounts and promotions that apply on their own are already in the price when the sheet opens.
- PayU's offers. Bank and card offers you set up in your PayU dashboard appear in the sheet. With Apply the best PayU offer automatically on, PayU picks the best one for the shopper. When PayU reports the offer, it is recorded on the order as a discount.
Store coupon codes cannot be typed inside PayU's sheet. A shopper who wants to use a coupon code should use the normal checkout.
COD fee
When you offer cash on delivery with a fee, the fee is passed to PayU when the sheet opens. If the shopper picks COD and PayU adds the fee, it appears on the order as a surcharge. A prepaid order never carries the COD fee.
Currency
Amounts go to PayU in your store currency. PayU Checkout Express is built for payments in Indian rupees (INR).
