Categories

Categories are how shoppers browse your store, for example Women → Dresses → Maxi dresses.

Add a category

1. Open Products → Categories and click New Category.
2. Name and Slug (its web address).
3. Description — shown on the category page; good for search engines too.
4. Category media
   • Thumbnail — the small picture on category cards and grids.
   • Category banner — desktop — the wide picture behind the category page header.
   • Category banner — mobile — a narrower version for phones. If empty, the desktop banner is used.
   • Icon — a small icon for menus. Upload one or choose a built-in icon.
5. Parent Category — leave No parent (root category) for a top-level category, or choose its parent to make a subcategory.
6. Save.

Organise

• Tree view shows the structure with subcategories indented under their parents; Table view lists them with type, parent, slug and status.
• Inactive categories are hidden from shoppers.
• Put a product in one Main Category, and in Additional Categories to show it in more places.

Show categories on your store

• Add categories to your header or footer menu in My store → Navigation.
• Show category tiles or sliders on your home page in My store → Layouts.

Export All downloads your categories as a spreadsheet.
