Customer consent and phone numbers
Which number is used
There is no separate "SMS number". CartWhizz uses:
| Customer | Number |
|---|---|
| Registered customer | The Phone on their profile. |
| Guest | The phone entered at checkout, or else the delivery address phone. |
Local numbers are completed with the Default country code. A number that isn't a mobile number is skipped and the delivery log shows Suppressed with the reason.
Order updates and offers are treated differently
| Type | Sent when |
|---|---|
| Order updates and OTPs | Always, unless the customer turned off order updates for SMS. |
| Offers | Only after the customer said yes to offers by SMS. |
Customers choose in three places:
- Checkout — an optional "Send me offers by SMS" box, unticked by default.
- Sign-up — the same optional box.
- My account → Notification preferences → Text & WhatsApp — switches for Offers and promotions and Order updates per channel.
STOP replies
If your provider forwards replies to CartWhizz:
- STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE stops offers on that channel.
- STOP ALL stops order updates too.
For Indian stores, also follow TRAI rules: send offers only during permitted hours (quiet hours help) and honour the customer's DND preferences through your DLT registration.
