Quick start
What it does. A shared product catalogue for your marketplace: sellers attach their offer to a master product instead of creating duplicates, and shoppers see the best offer.
Who can use it
- Off until you switch it on.
- Marketplace stores only (stores with sellers). A single-brand store does not see it.
- Your plan decides whether you can use it. The module card in Settings → Modules shows Not in your plan (with See plans) or Paid add-on (with Buy add-on) when it is not included. The features list shows which plans include it.
Switch it on
- In your admin, open Settings → Modules.
- Find Master Products. If it is on the Installed tab, click Enable; if not, open the Browse tab and click Install.
- Click Configure to change any setting below (the defaults work for most stores).
Switching it off later stops it working but keeps its data, so switching it back on picks up where you left off.
Where to find it
- Products → Master Products
Settings
- Auto-promote new vendor SKUs to master products — What happens when a vendor creates a product whose SKU has no existing master. 'queue' is the safer default. Default: Queue draft master for admin review.
- SKU comparison case Default: Compare lower-cased.
- Trim whitespace before SKU comparison Default: on.
- Skip auto-promote when product has no SKU — When off, products without a SKU still attempt auto-promote and queue under a synthetic key. Default: on.
- Vendor-editable fields on linked products (default) — Fields a vendor may edit on a product linked to a master. The 'fill-in-what's-missing' rule (any master field that's empty/null) overrides this whitelist on a per-field basis.
- Allow per-master override of the editable-fields whitelist — When ON, each master product can override the tenant default. When OFF, the tenant default applies to every master. Default: on.
- Enforce whitelist on vendor product CREATE (in addition to update) — When OFF, vendors create products freely; whitelist only kicks in once linked to a master. Default: off.
- Truncate non-whitelisted fields when a vendor product is linked to a master — When ON, linking overwrites a vendor's name/description/etc. with the master's values. When OFF, the vendor's values persist but cannot be edited going forward. Default: off.
- When a vendor's SKU matches an existing master with conflicting fields Default: Queue for admin review.
- Notify admin via email on conflict / queued review Default: on.
- Default seller order on product page — Controls which seller is highlighted as the default Add-to-Cart on a master product page when multiple vendors offer the same item. The first seller in this order is the default; the rest are listed as 'Other sellers'. Default: Cheapest first (price ASC).
- Vendors can create their own (non-master) products — When OFF, vendors can only sell products by cloning admin-vetted master entries from the master catalog. Independent product creation is blocked. Useful for tightly curated marketplaces. Default: on.
