The reminder emails
What the shopper receives
Each reminder tells the shopper how many items are waiting and the cart total, and has a button that takes them back to your store with the cart refilled. Every reminder has an Unsubscribe link at the bottom.
Known problems with the standard email:
- The cart total is shown in paise without a ₹ sign (for example 249900 instead of ₹2,499.00). Until this is fixed, you can remove the total line from the template.
- The discount code from the rule is not shown in the standard email.
Changing the wording and look
The reminders use the Abandoned cart email template. Open Settings → Communications → Email Templates, find it and edit the subject and text. Your logo and store details come from your branding settings.
Keep the placeholders in double curly brackets, such as {{recovery_url}} (the link back to the cart) and {{item_count}} — removing one removes that part from the email.
How the reminders are spaced
Each active rule is one reminder, and each rule sends once per cart (the Max Emails field on the rule, 1 by default). Rules are sent in order of their delay — the 4-hour rule first, then the 24-hour rule, and so on.
You can add more rules, but more than three reminders for one cart often leads to spam complaints.
When the reminders stop
The reminders stop for a cart as soon as that shopper places an order — through the email link, by coming back on their own, or even by buying different products. The match is by their account or email address. Cancelled or failed-payment orders do not count, so a shopper whose UPI payment failed keeps getting reminders.
Sending a reminder by hand
On the Abandoned Carts tab, click Send Recovery Email on a cart to send one reminder straight away (for example when a customer asks for the link again). Emails sent this way have no discount, and their link works for 72 hours.
Links in the automatic reminders keep working until the shopper buys.
Tracking
- Opened — the shopper's email app loaded the email's images. Many email apps block images, so the real open rate is higher.
- Clicked — the shopper clicked the link.
- Converted — the shopper placed an order after the reminder.
You see each email and its status on the Recovery Emails tab and the totals on the Conversion Funnel tab, including Revenue Recovered.
