Guests and signed-in shoppers
A reminder can only be sent if CartWhizz knows the shopper's email address.
Who can be reached
- Signed-in customers — always, using the email on their account.
- Guests — only if they typed their email address at checkout before leaving. Guests who added products but never started checkout cannot be reached.
Shoppers who log in with a phone number and have no email on their account cannot be emailed.
Getting more emails
- Ask for the email early in checkout.
- Encourage sign-in, for example with reward points or faster checkout.
A cart is tied to one browser for guests
A guest's cart lives in their browser. If they clear their browser data or switch phones, the old cart can't be found — but the reminder email still works, because the link refills a new cart.
When a guest later signs up
If a guest leaves a cart and then creates an account, you may see two abandoned carts for the same person. When they place an order with that email address, both stop.
Marketplaces
On a multi-seller store, one reminder lists all products in the cart, from every seller. Sellers cannot run their own reminders.
Why some carts never appear
| Situation | Why |
|---|---|
| Guest never started checkout | No email address |
| Cart is empty | Nothing to remind about |
| Shopper is still changing the cart | Clock restarts on each change |
| Customer account has no email | Nothing to send to |
