Unsubscribes and opt-outs
Reminders are marketing emails, so shoppers can stop them.
What the shopper can do
Every reminder has an Unsubscribe link at the bottom. Clicking it opts that email address out of your marketing emails. From then on CartWhizz skips that address for abandoned-cart reminders. An address that has unsubscribed from your newsletter is skipped too.
Order confirmations, shipping updates and password emails are not marketing, so they keep arriving.
What you can do
| You want to… | Do this |
|---|---|
| Stop all reminders for the whole store | Switch off Abandoned Cart Recovery in Settings → Modules. Rules and history are kept. |
| Stop one reminder step | Untick Active on that rule in Recovery Rules. |
When you switch the module back on, reminders continue from where they left off.
A customer complains
Look up their email on the Recovery Emails tab to see which reminders were sent and when. If they want no more, ask them to use the Unsubscribe link, or check whether they unsubscribed already — reminders are not sent to unsubscribed addresses.
Bounces
Emails that bounce (wrong address, full mailbox) are not stopped automatically. CartWhizz may try that address again for later reminders.
