Birthday, win-back and thank-you codes
These three triggers don't wait for an order event. The store checks them every hour and sends each code by email or WhatsApp (pick it in Send by).
| Trigger | Creates a code when… | Days box |
|---|---|---|
| Birthday | the customer's birthday is this many days away (0 = on the day). It uses the Birth Date field on the customer's profile, which they can fill in when they sign up or under My Account → Profile. | 0 to 30 |
| Win-back | a customer with at least one delivered order hasn't ordered for this many days | 14 to 730 |
| Thank you | this many days have passed since an order was delivered, and the order is still delivered (not cancelled, refunded or under a return). Set Order total needed to thank only bigger orders. | 0 to 60 |
Who gets a code
- Email: customers with a verified email address who haven't unsubscribed from your marketing emails. Each trigger has its own email you can edit in Email templates: Birthday Coupon, Win-back Coupon and Thank-you Coupon, each with its own subject.
- WhatsApp: customers who agreed to WhatsApp marketing. The message uses your approved Promotion WhatsApp template and waits out quiet hours; a customer who sent STOP gets nothing. If WhatsApp isn't set up, the rule sends nothing.
- A customer the chosen channel can't reach gets no code (it isn't created and left unused).
Limits that protect you
- Once only: one birthday code per customer per year, one thank-you per order, and one win-back each time a customer stops ordering.
- One at a time: a customer who still has an unused, unexpired code from the same trigger doesn't get another.
- Wait before another win-back: the days between two win-back codes for the same customer.
- Most codes per day / per month: the rule stops when it reaches either (0 = no limit). They start filled in so switching a win-back rule on can't email every past customer at once.
- Single-use, account-locked: each code works once and only when that customer is signed in, so a shared code is useless to anyone else.
- Thank-you codes only go to orders delivered in the last week before the delay ends, so switching the rule on never thanks old orders.
