Redemption + lifecycle

Using a code

The customer types the code into the coupon box in the cart or at checkout. It works like any coupon you create in Marketing → Promotions:

  • the cart must meet the rule's Min Order,
  • it must be before the expiry date (Valid Days after it was created),
  • each customer can use a code once, and in total it can be used Max Uses times.

The code is not locked to the customer who earned it — if they share it, someone else can use it (once), up to Max Uses.

Where to see codes

Click a rule in Marketing → Auto Coupons to see the codes it created, with the order, the customer, the expiry and status. Each code also appears as its own coupon (named "Auto coupon …") in Marketing → Promotions.

Known problem: the Uses count and the Used status in the Auto Coupons list don't update when a code is used at checkout. To see whether a code was used, look at that coupon's usage in Marketing → Promotions.

After expiry

Expired codes stop working. Deleting a rule does not cancel codes already sent; to stop a code early, disable its coupon in Marketing → Promotions.
