What are Banners?

Banners are the big promotional images on your store — the sliding pictures at the top of your home page, a sale announcement on a category page, a festive offer strip. You create them once in My store → Content → Banners and then choose where they appear using the layout editor.

Each banner has:

• an image (best at 1920 × 600 pixels),
• an optional Destination URL — where shoppers go when they tap it, e.g. your Diwali sale category,
• optional text and a button shown over the image (the Overlay),
• a Start Date and End Date, so a sale banner appears and disappears by itself,
• optional User Groups, so only certain customers (say wholesale buyers) see it,
• a Status: Active, Inactive or Scheduled.

Banners are part of every store — there is nothing to switch on.

Where banners show

A banner only appears where your page layout has a Banner Slider or Banners block. Most themes already have a Banner Slider at the top of the home page. See Targeting + scheduling.
