Delivery Scheduling

Glossary

  • Active / Disabled — a slot's status. Only active slots are offered; a disabled slot keeps its bookings.
  • Booked / Cancelled — a booking's status. There is no delivered state: delivery is tracked on the order.
  • Booking — one order's delivery date and slot, saved with the order. One order has at most one booking.
  • Booking rules — the module settings under Settings → Modules → Delivery Scheduling → Configure: Days bookable ahead and Require a delivery slot.
  • Calendar — the dates shown at checkout, from today to Days bookable ahead. Unavailable dates stay visible, greyed out, with a reason.
  • Calendar rules — processing days, cut-off time, working days, holidays and time zone, kept on the Delivery Window page and shared with the "Arrives by" estimate.
  • Capacity (Max Orders) — how many orders a slot takes on each date, at least 1.
  • Cut-off time — after this time, counting starts from tomorrow. 14:00 by default.
  • Day of the week — the weekday a slot runs on. The API numbers days 0 (Sunday) to 6 (Saturday).
  • Days bookable ahead — how far ahead shoppers can book: 14 by default, 1 to 60. Checked again when the order is placed.
  • Earliest date — today, or tomorrow after the cut-off, moved to a working day, plus the processing days of the slowest product in the cart. The shipping method's estimated days are not added.
  • Estimated days — a shipping method's transit time. Used by the Delivery Window "Arrives by" estimate, never by slots.
  • Holiday — a date with no deliveries, one-off or every year. It is never offered and never counts as a working day.
  • Label — the slot's note to shoppers, such as "Morning", up to 100 characters. Read from the slot, so a rename shows on booked orders too.
  • Live order — an order that is not cancelled, refunded, failed or voided. Only bookings of live orders take a seat.
  • Processing days — working days to prepare an order. A product's own value replaces the store's; a cart waits for its slowest product.
  • Require a delivery slot — on by default. On a shipping method that has slots, the web checkout cannot place the order until a slot is chosen. The app, API, admin and POS are never blocked.
  • Scheduled Deliveries — the tab listing bookings by date, where staff with the Manage orders permission cancel a booking.
  • Scheduling rules — the card on the Delivery Slots tab showing processing days, cut-off and the time zone in use.
  • Seat — one unit of a slot's capacity on one date.
  • Slot — a weekly delivery window for one active shipping method: a weekday, start and end time in store time, a label and a capacity. Creating one needs at least one weekday.
  • Store time — the time zone dates and slot times use: the Delivery Window time zone when set, otherwise the store's, otherwise UTC.
  • Time window — the slot's times copied onto the booking ("09:00–12:00"). Later edits to the slot do not change it.
  • Working day — a day that counts towards processing. Working days do not decide which days you deliver; your slots do.
  • Feature not available — what the admin page says while the module is off; checkout then shows no calendar.
