What is Promotions?

Promotions is where you create every discount in your store: coupon codes, automatic sale prices, free shipping, buy-one-get-one, free gifts and more. It is part of CartWhizz and always available in Marketing → Discounts, the first tab (Promotions & coupons).

The Discounts area has four tabs: Promotions & coupons (this guide), Voucher codes (simple codes, including bulk codes for a campaign), Automatic codes (a personal code sent to a customer after something they do, such as their first order) and Reports (orders, discount given and revenue for each promotion and code). Shoppers type any coupon or voucher code into the same box at cart and checkout.

Two kinds of promotion (the "Zone")

  • Catalog — changes product prices on the store automatically. Shoppers see the reduced price on product cards and pages. Example: 20% off all kurtas this weekend.
  • Cart — applies in the cart and at checkout, either when the shopper enters a coupon code or when the cart meets your conditions. Example: FLAT200 — ₹200 off orders above ₹1,499, or free delivery above ₹999.

Each promotion has three parts

  1. General — name, zone, dates, priority, usage limits and (for cart promotions) the coupon code.
  2. Conditions — when it applies: order value, products, categories, customer group, state, payment method and many more. No conditions means it always applies.
  3. Bonuses — what the shopper gets: a discount on the order or on products, free shipping, free products, buy X get Y, or after-order rewards such as a coupon for the next order.

Show it on product pages. With the Product Offers module on, a promotion can appear in an Available offers card on product pages, in the cart and at checkout (the Product page tab).

For coupons generated automatically (welcome or birthday coupons), see Auto Coupons.
