What is Search Management?

Search Management gives you one page to check that your store search is healthy and to rebuild the search index when results look out of date.

Find it at Settings → Search Management once the module is on.

What it does today

  • Connection status — shows whether your store's fast search engine is connected.
  • Index statistics — how many products are in the search index and when it was last rebuilt.
  • Reindex All Products — rebuilds the search index from your catalog in the background.

Where the other search settings live

How the search box behaves for shoppers (live suggestions, which result types appear, how many of each, prices and images in the dropdown) is set in Products → Search Settings. That page works whether or not this module is on.

Not available yet

The module's description and its Configure screen mention synonyms, words to ignore, boosting and search analytics. These are not built yet:

  • There is no synonym list or "words to ignore" list.
  • There is no way to push chosen products to the top of results.
  • There is no report of what shoppers searched for.
  • The Enable Synonyms, Enable Search Analytics and Min Query Length switches on the module's Configure screen have no effect. Use Products → Search Settings → Minimum Query Length instead.
  • The Search words box on a product (under Promotion on the product page) is saved but is not used by search yet, so a product will not be found by those words.
